brief bio

Prior to 2017, when I began working in my studio on three-dimensional constructions and paintings, my 10th pop-up book, The Gingerbread White House was published. Other published works include the bestsellers Christmas in New York, Christmas Around The World, and Great American Houses and Gardens. My product designs are in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum. I have designed china for Lenox, wallpaper and fabric for Brunschwig & Fils and F. Schumacher and Co., fine paper products for C.R. Gibson and Caspari, and an exclusive collection of giftware for the White House Historical Association. Recently, I partnered with Robert Sabuda and launched LegacyPop, a new architectural pop-up stationery company. I earned a B.F.A. from the University of Kansas and have been a Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome and Guest Artist at Civitella Ranieri in Umbria, Italy.  In 2013, I was awarded the distinction of Attingham Scholar, to further advance the study of the British Country House.
